At 11:20 p.m., December 5th, the New Glarus Fire Department and Police were alerted to a house fire at on 5th Avenue in the Village of New Glarus. An investigation revealed the fire started in a rear room of the home and spread to an upstairs room and into the attic. Assistance from area Fire Departments, including Monroe, Belleville and Monticello, was rendered in bringing the fire under control several hours later and an extensive amount of damage was reported.
